In a Facebook post published on the legislator's official page on Sunday, Duale further announced that the lender will invest a further $1.2 for the LAPPSET project.

"The $700million is for Lamu-Garissa - Isiolo Highway that passes through Ijara, Fafi, Township, Balambala and Lagdera constituencies of Garissa County as part of the LAPPSET project that will include the railway and the pipeline," Duale said.

"This will open up the entire Northern Kenya and link the country to Ethiopia and South Sudan corridor through the counties of Lamu, Garissa, Isiolo, Marsabit and Turkana," he added.

According to Duale, this is part of Jubilee government's promise of improving the infrastructure of northern Kenya and other marginalized areas.
