Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago has dismissed suggestions that the South Rift region might be tilting towards the opposition's National Supper Alliance (Nasa) as the general elections approaches.

Bomet governor Isaac Rutto has been Nasa's point man in the region after he was elevated to the co-principle status in the coalition.

However according to Mandago, the Rift Valley Jubilee party's presidential campaign caucus chairman, the South Rift remains a Jubilee stronghold.

"This region has never been an opposition's stronghold and this gathering today is a convincing confirmation that South Rift is firmly in Jubilee," Mandago said during a political rally at Bomet green stadium, Friday.

The Uasin Gishu governor further challenged residents of Bomet county to fully support Jubilee candidates in the August polls.

"The Jubilee party believes in 'kusema na kutenda' and this is why we need to support Jubilee candidates for a better county and country," Mandago noted.
