Two candidates from the neighboring South Sudan are among the top performing pupils who sat for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations in Uasin Gishu County.
The two, Athian Manyuen and Monicah Aluat have been raised up in the country but hope to return back home after they are done with studies here Kenya.
Manyuen, 14, who sat for the KCPE exams at Eldo Baraka school in Eldoret town scored 425 marks while Aluat, 15, had 412 marks.
"I am very happy for being among the best as it's any child's hopes to be top and succeed. I've been working hard and as they say, hard work always pays," Manyuen said, Tuesday.
"My target has always been to join Alliance high school and later study medicine," he added.
Aluat on her part hopes to join Kenya High and later be a dermatology which is the branch of medicine dealing with the skin, nails, hair and its diseases.
"I've lived in Kenya for about 10 years and all I wish is to get quality education and achieve my dreams then go back to my country and improve the living standards of my people," Aluat said.
"I have heard many cases of deaths due to poor healthcare and my hope is to somebody bring them a solution," she added.
