According to the report that was published and released by Medecins Sans Frontieres, Soweto area in Kibera slums is among the leading areas that have registered highest cases of sexual violence.

The findings of the report were compiled from police statistical records on rape cases and also by revelations delivered by rape victims going through counselling sessions.

The statistical report for the year ended on December 2015, where a total of 2,421 victims were reported to have been sexually molested and abused in Nairobi county. The areas topping the list are Kasarani, Roysambu, Githurai, Kahawa West, Soweto, Marurui, Santon, and Mwiki. Kenyatta University is also among the top ten regions that its residents encountered sexual exploitation. In the period running from January to December 2015, the statistics of new consultations and hospital admissions at the MSF clinics shot up to a total tally of 2,421 victims, with the health facility admitting a record of 203 new consultations each month.

Ninety-two percent of all the victims were females while the rest 7.7 percent were male victims. Surprisingly, 56 percent of all the rape cases were minors.
