Nakuru County Speaker Susan Kihika has called on members of the public to actively participate in giving out their views in the course of the preparation of the Finance Bill.

Kihika says that business people especially should participate in the formulation of policies to avoid future complaints after the bill is signed into law.

''It is very important for the public to give out their views as it will ease our work as the assembly as it would be unfair to draft laws that affect the people yet their input is minimal. This is why I have decided that a big suggestion box be set up at the county assembly so that those who do not find time to attend the public participation meetings can drop their suggestions,'' said Kihika.

Kihika who spoke during Mashujaa day celebrations in Nakuru said that it was a constitutional provision under the County Government Act to have public participation in the course of preparing budgets and finance bills.

She added that signing of already passed bills have been delayed by a backlog in the gazetting process.

Kihika said that five bills will be signed into law by Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua this week after the ceremony was postponed last week following President Uhuru Kenyatta's Visit to Lanet Barracks.
