Nairobi County Speaker Beatrice Elachi has sided with city boss Mike Sonko accusing cartels of plans to 'take over' the city.
Elachi said tenderpreneurs are to blame over the troubles that are facing Sonko.
"Some of the fights my governor has is due to tenderpreneurs who are demanding much from the Governor. This fight is pulling him down, distracting him from his work and we claim he cannot perform," Elachi said on Saturday.
The Speaker was speaking in Mombasa where she met the members of Nairobi Liaison committee.
"As a speaker, I was to ensure, together with my team, that the governor has the regulations and laws to govern the city," she said.
Sonko has been at loggerheads with certain powerful individuals within the national government whom he has accused of undermining him.
On Friday, Sonko accused Interior PS Karanja Kibicho of trying to influence the nomination of the next Nairobi County Deputy Governor.
Interestingly, Sonko surprisingly nominated controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna for the position eliciting mixed reactions even within his Jubilee party.
