Nyamira County Assembly clerk Daniel Orina will have to languish in cold for three months effective April 1st over several allegations on financial impropriety and abuse of office.
County Assembly Service Board under the stewardship of speaker Moffat Teya has since served the embattled powerful clerk with the suspension letter after days of delay.
In the letter, CASB argues, Orina granted himself Sh2 million without any policy regulating staff loan. Further, is accused of changing minutes to create junior posts which he allocated to relatives.
Yet again, the clerk is accused of failing to redeploy three staff members to the office of immediate former Speaker and decision to continue paying them without the knowledge of the board.
Further, they argue in the letter, Orina has failed to remit Sh12.5 million gratuity to former MCAs for 2016/17 financial year to LAPFUND.
Speaker Teya further says, the embattled clerk should submit responses to at least 8 allegations within the first month of his suspension. His deputy Duke Onyari has since taken over.
