Uasin Gishu County Assembly Speaker, Isaac Terer has appealed to the national government to consider increasing funds being allocated to the elderly.
Terer said that by doing this, the quality of life of senior citizens in the country will greatly be improved and reduce the myriad of challenges they face daily.
“We thank the government for allocating funds to the elderly as they had promised. However they need more funds to be able to efficiently sustain their living conditions,” said Terer.
He urged county governments to replicate the state´s actions and also do the same at the grass root level.
Terer also called for measures to be put in place to reduce cheating cases within the fund and ensure only the right persons benefit from the money.
Terer was speaking in Langas, Eldoret on Friday during the issuance of Uwezo Fund cheques worth Sh.11 Million to 22 youth groups from Kapsaret Constituency.
“I request all those who have received this money to use it to use it wisely through establishment of viable businesses aimed at improving your lives,” he said.
