A student from Bukalama village in Bukhayo West who is living with Albinism has sent a passionate plea to well-wishers to enable him to join Maseno School to pursue his secondary education.
Abraham Barasa overcame his special needs to scored 380 marks in this year's Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams to earn selection at the prestigious school.
Barasa followed the footsteps of Goldalyn Kakuya of St Anne Junior Lubao in Kakamega County who also overcame her special needs to become the top student in the country in KCPE after scoring 455 out of a possible 500 marks.
Barasa said he had hoped to score over 400 marks but owing to challenges he managed 380 marks.
"I come from a poor background, thus my appeal to any good Samaritan to support my education to enable me achieve my dreams of becoming a lawyer," he said.
Barasa's mother Christine Nafula said she is a vegetable seller at Kemodo market while her husband is a bicycle rider whose daily income is about Sh150.
"We are living on a quarter acre of land. We have nowhere to seek help to fulfill the dreams of our son. We have nowhere to seek help if nobody will hear our plea," she said.
Kakuya performance earned her the President's ear. He met her at State House where he pledged that his administration will support her education.
