This emerged on Wednesday after the National Assembly amended the law on Sexual Offenses to usher in tough penalties on the perpetrators of the vices.

The units will be under police officers specifically trained on how to handle and investigate the sexual offenses.

At the same time, parents, relatives or guardians negotiating compensation with suspected defilers risk a being fined an amount not exceeding Sh500,000, five years jail term, or even both.

The recommendations were tabled in a bill sponsored by Busia women representative Florence Mutua.

The bill further provides that any unlawful and intentional act of physical body contact of genital organs, breasts or buttocks between persons of opposite sex and exposure of any pornographic materials against someone's will amounts to sexual offense.

Mutua's bill also bars potential employers from hiring anyone convicted of sexual offenses to take care of young children or any vulnerable person.

This comes at a time when a local NGO in Garissa is demanding for an immediate arrest and prosecution of a middle-aged male suspect who reportedly abducted and married a class six girl.
