The family spokesperson said it was wrong to speculate about his death as a postmortem carried out by three pathologists could not be determined the cause.

"The initial finding of the postmortem is that the cause of death is indeterminate," he said in a press statement on Saturday.

"Further tests are being carried out by the government and family pathologists."

Cholmondeley, the only son of the 5th Lord Delamere, died on Wednesday while receiving treatment at Nairobi's MP Shah Hospital.

The government pathologist, an independent pathologist from MP Shah Hospital and one nominated by the family were present during the postmortem on Thursday.

"It is not appropriate for anyone to speculate on the cause of death before those tests have been completed and the results are known, which may take several weeks," he added.

"All of the parties involved have the full confidence of Tom’s family, who sincerely appreciate everyone's hard work at this difficult time."

MP Shah Hospital Chief Executive Officer Anup Das said Cholmondeley, 48, died of cardiac arrest on Wednesday afternoon at 2.15pm as he recovered from hip replacement surgery.
