Bodaboda operators in Kisumu plying Kondele - CBD area and it’s environs are calling for speedy construction of a stretch on Kisumu – Kakamega road.

According to the operators, the slowness in the construction of Kondele - Yellow Line stretch is eating up into their daily business operations.

“The cost of fueling my motorbike has hiked since am forced to use a lot of money, part of what I used to make as profit to refuel due to the long routes we meander to avoid traffic jams and over congestion on the highway,” assert Issac Omondi one of the bodaboda operators.

According to another rider who operates between Kondele and the CBD, Jack Wafula, most of the customers complain of the dust from the uncompleted road hence leaving them with no other choice apart from using alternative roads which are longer.

“Despite taking long routes like the Tom Mboya Road, our customers are never willing to add more money for the service, they stick to the normal charges,’’ says Wafula.

Apart from the dust they also say it’s almost impossible to pass through the traffic jam during rush hour periods.

Despite the construction of the said road being under the national government, the group is now calling on the county government to intervene and call for speedy construction.
