The MP claims that there are many land cases pending in courts across the country.

He said that delay in hearing and concluding land cases has denied justice to Kenyans seeking court’s intervention on land matters.

“The judiciary is to blame for slowing down land cases,” he alleged during a Lands Summit at State House in Nairobi on Monday.

Waititu asked the newly appointed Chief Justice David Maraga to look into the issue and speed up hearing and conclusion of land cases pending before courts.

At the same time, the Kabete MP asked the Land Ministry and the National Lands Commission (NLC) to fast track issuance of land titles to genuine owners.

He observed that majority of Kabete locals have no titles a move he said has led to increased cases of land grabbing.

“The government should ensure that every genuine land owner has a title deed so that we can curb land grabbing,” he said.

According to Lands Cabinet Secretary (CS) Jacob Kaimenyi, the government intends to give out over 3 million land titles before the end of next year.

Kaimenyi further says that his ministry is working to digitise all land registries to make it easier for Kenyans to access land services.

“By June next we expect to have digitised all the 47 land registries across the country,” he said during the Monday State House Summit.

The CS said that government will not tolerate grabbing of public property.

He asked county governments to put in place measures that will protect government property against grabbing.

On the same note the Lands CS stated that all public schools have been issued with land titles.
