An African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa (AIPCA) moderator has challenged parents to play their parenting roles during the lengthy December holiday.

Limuru Parish Moderator Stephen Ng'ang'a says that the holiday comes with many cases of teenage misdemeanours and it is the duty of parents to see that their teens do not indulged in the crimes.

Speaking during a church service at Limuru Town in Kiambu County, Ng'ang'a said that many parents do not spend their time with their children, a situation which he said has contributed to the rise of crimes among the teens during the holidays.

“Parents have neglected their roles which makes the children fall prey to criminal activities,” said Ng'ang'a.

The clergyman urged parents to spend their time with teens to enable them acquire better directions in life

“Parents should be in contact with their teens and guide them to be responsible citizens,” said the clergy.

He said that teens misuse the holiday by in engaging in drug abuse and irresponsible sexual activities which is a disgrace to the society. He revealed that his church has lined a series of activities during the holiday to enable the youth spend the time in a constructive manner.

“The church will conduct a number of activities for teens. We will organise camps to teach them life skills and music,” said Ng'an'ga.

He urged the teens to respect their parents and heed their advices to earn blessings.
