Nyamira county women rep Jerusha Momanyi has asked residents to spend wisely during the festive season.
According to the lawmaker, careless spending will see many parents struggle to pay school fees as their children will be going back to school next year.
"Christmas involves a lot of spending but I want to urge constituents not to overspend for the celebrations. Schools will be re-opened next year and it may be hard for some to raise school fees for their children," she said.
She challenged residents to share what they have to the less fortunate in society.
"There are those who won't afford to buy food and drinks. Let us not forget them, we should share with them what we have so that they don't feel ignored," said Jerusha.
The MP said that drink alcohol should do it at a measurable level because excessive consumption of alcohol may lead to death.
"It is a norm for the Kisii community that people should celebrate by drinking local brew 'Busaa' but this should not be done in excess since there will be life after Christmas," she stated.
