The residents, in places of residence around Kidfarmaco Primary school expressed their hue and cry about security lapse and failure by the police to maintain order in the area.

In the past two weeks, several cases of robbery at gun-point, carjacking and theft have been reported in the area, most of which are perpetrated in the wee hours of the night.

Susan Wambui, a resident, recounts the ordeal in which she witnessed her neighbours being robbed at gun point, at around 9pm on Tuesday night.

“The three gunmen accosted Loise (her neighbour) as she drove into the compound. They shot into the air once and she surrendered. I was watching through the window as they drove off in her car. Luckily, she was not hurt.” She narrated.

The gang, which is alleged to comprise young men who have also sought the aid of knives and pistols to carry out their mission, have instilled fear and unrest in their estate, which serves as the dormitory for most working individuals around Kikuyu and Nairobi.

The residents have also been astonished by spiraling cases of day time burglary targeting the homes where the owners are out for work. “The break ins are mostly done during the day, where unsuspecting neighbours mistake the thieves for authorized persons”. James Njau, a victim of such crime, said.
