Spiritual leaders have strongly condemned the move to register atheism as an organisation in Kenya.
This is after Harrison Mumia the president and founder of atheists moved to register atheism as an organisation in Kenya just like any other religion.
Fr Jackson Awiti said the move to register the organisation will compromise Christianity and loss of moral values.
“This is very unfortunate that someone would go out there and claim there is no God. To make it worse they want to register it as an organization," said Awiti.
"This must be stopped and condemned by the constitution that ought to protect its own citizens,” he added.
He added that registration of the organisation will mean competition with the believers.
“We will not relent on our demand at any cost. Let those who don’t believe in God sit back in their houses and hold on to their own faith but not influencing Kenyans," he said.
He urged Christians to be more prayerful to avoid temptations.
Harrison has more than 100 followers who demand recognition of atheists as an organisation.
Rev Jacob Okoyo had earlier in the week condemned the act and called for a ban of the atheist group saying they will not allow that to happen.
