Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has hailed the Catholic church for their effort in supporting the education sector in the country.

CS Matiang’i was speaking at St Angela Sengera Girls in Gucha during the fundraising in aid of constructing dormitories as he hailed the Catholic Church for their big role in supporting education.

“Am delighted for the good work that our sponsors are doing for instance the catholic church has been supporting the education sector of this county, we will work together to make more achievement in education,” said Matiang’i.

For Example he mentioned some Gusii school sponsored by the catholic church and how the support has boosted education. The schools that have benefited most from the sponsorship include Nyabururu Girls, Sironga Girls, Cardinal Otunga Mosocho among others.

He also challenged others churches to make sure that they always partner with their schools so that the education sector will develop.

“Currently we heard talks with the Seventh Day Adventist members and we have talked on how to work together in terms of boosting education sector of this country and we shall work with all churches which are sponsoring schools so that we achieve our goals,” added Matiang’i.

At the same time he challenged the sponsors of schools to know that by supporting a school it is not a guarantee that they should interfere with the school heads.

“When you are the sponsors of a certain school it does not mean that you are allowed to interfere with the school's management,” he said.
