Churches in Nyamira County have been advised to sponsor students to join universities to further their studies and in turn, help empower the community.
Speaking on Sunday at Matutu PAG Church in Gesima ward during a fundraiser, Matutu PAG Secondary School Principal Charles Osoro said empowering students through education will help the community in future more so when it needs help .
“ My appeal to the society more so Christians is; let us empower our children by supporting them to go to schools. We will need them in future more so when we have such events," said Osoro.
“When we empower our children through education, it means we have hope in their future. Let us keep supporting them," he added.
Osoro also challenges PAG sponsored schools to strengthen their measures to improve education standards across the country.
Pastor Ogentoto of Matutu PAG echoed Osoro’s sentiments saying they have more than 20 students who will be joining universities this year and will continue supporting them.
They added another fundraiser is in the offing in their bid to support more students.
