St. Patricks Mosocho mixed secondary and primary schools are in disagreement over boundary whereby the secondary want its share to be extended so that they can get more land for expansion of classrooms and building of latrines.

Speaking to the press on Friday in his office, the school principal Barnabas Babu said they are concentrated in less than two acreage of land that has become a challenge in expanding the school with an escalating population.

“We have a great challenge which we hope can be solved by the sponsor. Our land is too small and we do not have enough classrooms and latrines, and our efforts to have more land is being downplayed and politicized. This is a public school that benefits the surrounding community and we admit students from our sister primary school,” principal Babu said.

The school that is sponsored by the Catholic Church has been in existence for the last 17 years and was a facing myriad challenge with many parents wanting to have their children enrolling in the school because of its sterling performance in subsequent years.

It is among the top performing school in Kisii County whereby it recorded a mean of 6.57 points in last year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination.

Rhoda Motuka, who is the area Education Officer, Mosocho Division, has promised to work on the land issue and therefore urged the community and leaders to avoid politicizing the matter.

“The land issue will be addressed as soon as possible and therefore I ask parents and other stakeholders to remain calm as we sink into the matter,” Motuka appealed.
