Kenyan sports betting company Sportpesa has been shortlisted for the annual Football Business Awards that is set to take place in London on Thursday.
The award, which features organisations that support football off the pitch, will see Sportpesa compete against 96 other giant organisations which include English Premier League clubs, various charities, media companies, hospitality companies and gaming firms.
Sportpesa was shortlisted under the category of Best Brand Activation in football because of its campaigns with English Premier League giants, Everton FC and EFL Championship outfit — Hull City Tigers.
“This is a true honour and a reflection of our dedication to developing football in the markets that we operate in. By being one of only three finalists to get two nominations, it speaks volumes about the scope and impact of the work that we do regarding the growth of football,” said Ronald Karauri, the Sportpesa Chief executive officer.
Sportpesa had on May signed a record deal with Everton football club, which later came to Tanzania to play against Gormahia FC and thus earning the gaming firm a slot into finalist list of the award due to its engagement in English premier league.
The award ceremony will be held at Tobacco Dock building in London.
