[Photo/sportpesanews.com]SportPesa on Monday rewarded Harambee Stars with Sh3 million for winning the 2017 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup.Harambee Stars beat Zanzibar 3-2 in post-match penalties at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos to win the cup.The match ended 1-1 after 120 minutes of play.SportPesa joined in celebrating the national football team when its Chief Executive Officer, Captain Ronald Karauri, presented the team with the cash at a luncheon held in their honour at a Nairobi hotel by Football Kenya Federation (FKF).Speaking at the fete, Captain Karauri, hailed the victory as a stepping stone towards greater things for the team that finished the tournament unbeaten, a feat not achieved since the 1983 Senior Challenge Cup in Sudan.“It will take a lot for Kenyans to start believing in our Football and this is a great start. I’m so proud today because we can start bragging about winning. This is the beginning of many great things,” Karauri said.He added, “Machakos hosted us very well and I was happy to see the stadium so packed. We need everyone to rally behind our teams. SportPesa alone can only do so much, we need everybody’s support.“We wish the team the very best and very big congratulations to them and to the entire federation. Let us keep working hard and doing our best,” Captain Karauri added in reference to the Tujiamini campaign launched by the bookmakers last month that rallies Kenyans to embrace their sporting heroes.
