‘‘Sometimes, my son bets up to sh2, 000 yet in the house we have no money to buy food. If you ask him if he won the bet, he tells you he has not received any money, meaning he has lost. I am not sure if he has ever won any game but he is too much in the business of betting,’’ said Beatrice Murunga, one parent of the youths.

Aggie Anyango said her son was influenced by his college mate to join the betting club.

‘‘Enock said he was introduced to the system by his college friend whom he said he won sh10,000. This thing has really affected my son because he barely concentrates with his school work. He uses most of his time in the cyber betting. I have never heard if he won or lost. That is his secret,’’ said Anyango.

Another parent, Catherine Muturi said betting is like gambling and should be stopped because it is not a good business. She called on the youths to devise any other legal means of getting money rather than gambling.
