Betting firm Sportpesa might be considering its decision to stop sponsoring Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards, with reports indicating the parties are in talks over the same.
The two footballing giants in the country were thrown into a spin after Sportpesa’s withdrawal and were already in the market in search of other sponsors.
But according to reports from the two clubs, Sportpesa are willing to reconsider their decision and might be back in the fold for the two clubs.
According to Gor Mahia’s Ronald Ngala, who spoke to Goal, they have had meetings with the betting firm over the same.
“We have met with them (SportPesa), like three times, they are willing to re-negotiate, but nothing has been documented, it is just a verbal communication,” Gor Mahia's Ronald Ngala.
His sentiments were echoed by his AFC Leopards counterpart Dan Mule.
The two clubs will be representing the country in continental duties and indicated they might be forced to pull out of the competitions due to lack of funds.
The teams need close to Sh30 million each for the two matches, and there might be a glimmer of hope with the latest development.
