The sports fraternity in Kenya has continued to mourn the death of Nakuru county Athletics Kenya chair, Kimutai Ngetich who died this week in an accident.
Kuresoi South vice chair of the Kenya secondary school heads, Ezekiel Ngeno expressed his deepest heartfelt condolences to the family saying that the deceased’s demise was received with shock by the sporting fraternity.
Ngeno also added that Ngetich touched the community through the various roles he played and thus his death is not only a loss to the family but to the international community too.
Among the family members who arrived at the Molo sub county mortuary and spoke to media was the deceased brother, Weldon Ngetich who said that the family was saddened by his demise.
Recalling the last moments with Ngetich, Weldon said that his late brother called him to inform his mother that he was in Molo but will visit the family in Kericho the next day.
Until the time of his death, Ngetich was the Nakuru County chairman of the Kenya Secondary School Sports Association, area Athletics Kenya chair and the Principal of Tinet secondary school in Kuresoi.
Ngetich had arrived from Uganda where he took the Kenyan schools to participate in the Brookside East Africa secondary schools games that was held in Gulu area.
He was involved in an accident yesterday morning at around 6.30am along the Kericho-Nakuru highway at Jurbat area where the Nissan Matatu they were travelling in rammed into a tractor.
Londiani police boss, Joseph Odipo who confirmed the early morning accident that claimed the lives of also the driver and another passenger said that the driver was speeding under poor vision since it was foggy.
