Sports stakeholders from Malindi and Magarini in Kilifi County have demanded the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Malindi and Magarini sub-branch be disbanded over corruption allegations among some of the officials.
Led by Mr. Kahindi Chai, the stakeholder’s slammed the FKF Malindi and Magarini branches saying the Federation has been conducting sports activities out of the constitution adding that most of the upcoming teams have now been forced to withdraw their participation over the misconduct and even corruption issues in the sector.
“The FKF Malindi and Magarini have been undermining some teams that are performing well in different zone league, one could be forced to pay an extra fee for registration yet the rules and regulation of FKF does not recognize such rules,” he said.
He added that once a league cup is yet to begin in different zone level, the FKF officials normally request for money from clubs sponsors and coach’s failure to which a club will be denied clearance documents to participate.
“We are experiencing a hard time with these corrupt officials, they have even carried out unlawful activities without any action taken against them,” he added.
His sentiments were echoed by Black Panthers football club chairman Lameck Samson whose club was denied participation permit who said that there is a need for fresh elections to be conducted and new officials be elected to replace the alleged corrupt ones.
“If early actions will not be taken against these officials we shall be ‘burying’ the upcoming young talents among our youths,” he said.
According to Lameck, he disclosed that the FKF officials cannot account nor allocate for the money given by the national government through the ministry of sports in which every county is allocated money for sports activities.
He, however, called upon the FKF president Nick Mwendwa to quickly intervene over the ongoing wrangles between the officials and stakeholders to enable youths to explore their talents.
Meanwhile, efforts to reach out the alleged FKF officials in Malindi and Magarini were futile as phones went unanswered.
