Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi believes the ongoing squabbles in Kenya’s single largest party should not be given National headlines given that he raised an alarm long time ago.
The Orange Democratic Party has been embroiled in unprecedented wrangles with embattled Secretary General Ababu Namwamba leading the rebellion.
Speaking to the reporter on Tuesday, Maangi accused unnamed people of sabotaging efforts of other party members with an aim of ‘denying’ them access to Party leader Raila Odinga.
“The problem in ODM should not make national headlines because we have spoken about it before and no action was taken by even the party leader. Some people want to own the party and they are out to frustrate goodwill members,” said Maangi who doubles as Kisii County ODM Organising Secretary.
“They just want to block smart party members from reaching the party leader and at times demean some of us. It’s a self-creation and isn’t unique. I expected it a long time ago,” he added.
He urged party leader Raila Odinga to convene a meeting with all delegates countrywide for a consultative meeting before things get out of control.
“The only remedy to this is holding a consultative meeting countrywide that involves all stakeholders and delegates. That is when he can be able to collect intelligence and make a wise decision before things go against him,” he said.
