Tens of families of squatters living at Kambi Nandi farm in Uasin Gishu county are up in arms over what they claim is harassment from the family of the former powerful Minister the late Mark Too.

The squatters accused the family of using police to harass and intimidate them breaching their constitutional rights following land ownership row.

They now want the government, both national and county, to wade into the matter so as to help in resolving the matter.

Two leaders of the squatters are currently in police custody at Langas police station in the outskirts of Eldoret town.

They were arrested alongside 19 cattle were also impounded for allegedly grazing in an unauthorized part of the land.

"Police came to where we live, took our cows and arrested me.

The cows were taken to one of Mark Too's wife called Sophie," said one of the squatters who sought anonymity.

"For now all we want is for the government to come to our rescue because we're suffering yet we paid for this land," he added.

Mark Too's widow has however dismissed the allegations against.

The two arrested squatter's leaders are expected to be arraigned in court on Wednesday facing charges yet to be disclosed.
