Dozens of squatters who invaded ADC farm in Kosovo, Naivasha have been given a seven-day notice to find alternative places of residence failure to which they will be forcefully evicted.

According to Naivasha assistant commissioner Joseph Opondo, the squatters, who hail from Transmara, Narok County have started subdividing part of the land among themselves despite lacking title deeds to show ownership, a move which raised an alarm.

He also faulted a section of leaders for politicizing the land issue in the area, which is known for bloody clashes.

Opondo reminded the squatters that the land belongs to ADC, and subdividing it will not make them rightful owners as claimed by some politicians in the area.

"A chunk of the land is owned by ADC. It is shocking that some of those calling themselves squatters are government officials keen on getting free land," he said, as quoted by The Star.

He also said that the government is aware of a senior army officer who has allocated himself a section of the land, adding that he has been summoned over the matter.

The notice comes after several farmers decried increased number of pastoralists encroaching their land in search of green pastures
