The Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) has called on teachers to embrace the commission's job evaluation exercise which started Wednesday in all the 47 counties.

Commission Vice Chairperson Daniel Omondi said the exercise is targeting jobs and not individuals.

Omondi who was in Kisumu to launch the exercise on Monday said the teaching sector has 32 jobs, and that is what the Commission targets to evaluate and recommend an agreeable compensation structure.

The exercise held at Kisumu Lions High School is expected to kick off the process of fishing out salary rewards as has been the case with many employers in the country.

"We have already evaluated jobs in all the 21 ministries in the national government, state corporations and the county government. Once we clear the teaching jobs, universities and security, we will be able to give the results in June," said Omondi.

According to Mr Omondi, all the stakeholders responded positively by attending the launch of the evaluation of teachers.

"What we are doing today was supposed to have been done 50 years ago during independence, and we have support from across the board that it is a good move. People should not confuse job evaluation and performance management," he said.
