Medics have started discussing a new salary structure made by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).
In this new structure, the lowest paid intern will earn Sh62,850 per month.
If agreed on, the lowest ranked medical intern will earn the said figure in Job group C-3 while the highest paid doctor (Chief Medical Specialist One) will earn Sh576 120 in job group E4.
This comes after the clergy led a mediation panel that saw the government and doctors agree on a number of key issues that could see the doctors back to hospitals.
The SRC proposal, which is being considered by all parties, will have a medical officer intern of Job Group C3-8 get paid a salary ranging between Sh62 850 and Sh68 165 in group C3-10.
The intern will be eligible to climb to the next level under a year.
Also, doctors are are suggesting that medical officers salaries be based on the structure recently released for all civil servants.
The proposed deal also says that all medical doctors start at job group C5-8 where they will take home a salary between Sh74,557 and Sh81,148.
A senior medical officer in D2-8 will get paid between Sh119,686 and Sh130,226.
Under SRC's newly proposed salary structure for civil servants, D1 is the lowest category in civil service while E is the highest.
