United Nations Naiobi staff have laid out their complaints after they regional headquarter office failed to acknowledge national holidays.
This comes in the wake of the October 26 presidential election which was announced as a holiday.
However, staff at the UNON complex have been told that OCtober 26 will be a working day.
These complaints follow last weeks Mashujaa Day which took place on Friday, October 20, where staff were required to show up to work.
Staff members were shocked that administration opted to treat October 20 like a regular working day.
"I cannot believe we still had to come to work despite it being a national holiday. Staff members who indicated that they were not reporting to work that day were deducted leave days," said one staff member who wished to remain anonymous.
This follows a recent gazette announcement issued by Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i that Wednesday, October 25 is a national holiday.
Staff members have demanded that they be allowed to observe the holiday and be allowed to exercise the democratic right to vote.
