The long wait for a post secondary institution in Kuresoi South will soon be a thing of the past after area MP Zakayo Cheruiyot committed to ensuring a polytechnic is set up.

This comes after Cheruyiot led senior government officials, corporates, friends and well-wishers in a funds drive on Saturday that was presided over by Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto at Cheptuech Boys High School.

He noted that his desire was to see a fully developed Kuresoi, with education being top on his wish list.

"The best tool we can equip our youths with is quality education so that they are ready to face the future. This can only be achieved if we support each other," he said.

The MP called on parents not to let their children idle around while there were many middle level colleges that could equip them with life skills.

"Idleness is always dangerous especially with young minds who are still experimenting in life. Don't let them idle around lest they start engaging in crime and drug abuse," he noted.

A total of Sh1.7 million was raised, with another funds drive slated for June this year before preliminary construction for the polytechnic, that has been set for early 2017.
