Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui led stakeholders involved in search efforts relating to the aircraft disaster in Lake Nakuru where they made the below joint statement, on Thursday.We met today for a joint session aimed at briefing ourselves on the status report so far regarding search efforts in Lake Nakuru.All stakeholders had an opportunity to report on what they have been doing, - individually and collectively over the last 27 days.So far the following has been achieved:Recovery of two bodies Anthony KipyegonPilot Capt. Apollo Malowa Part debris from the aircraftThree bodies still missing include:Sam GitauJohn NdiranguVeronicah Muthoni While parties involved have been putting up their best in the search efforts, progress has been hampered largely by the following:-Unknown position of the aircraftLarge search area 54km2Poor visibility inside the lakeDanger marine life e.g hipposUnfavorable weather conditions- rainsSubmerged fallen trees/logsInstability of the waters due to continuous change of wavesStrain on resourcesLack of superior technology e.g equipment

Despite these challenges, the stakeholders are committed to pressing on with the search and to particularly seek more partners to enrich the capacity of the search team.The National Government through the Ministry of Interior is in the process of procuring superior marine search equipment which include;Side scan sonarMultibeam echo soundMarine magnetometerThe County Government on its part has stepped up support by allocating more resources to ensure that the search and recovery efforts are taken to a higher level.As the stakeholders continue to work in ensuring progress of the exercise every single step, we cannot forget that the affected families continue to experience the burden of emotional and psychological effect occasioned by the loss of their loved ones. We greatly share in this unfortunate incident and promise to continue doing all that is humanly possible to bring this case to closure."
