Mombasa County Tourism CeC, has said the sector is bound to improve following the government's move to lower park fees and waive the same on children.

Speaking in Mombasa on Saturday, Binti Omar said that the move will see an increased number of tourists visiting Kenyan parks.

"Now that the park fees have been reduced, many people will want to come to Kenya to visit our parks," said Omar.

She added, "Waiving park fees for people under the age of 18 years, will also see many parents touring the country with their children."

On his part, Kenya Association of Hotel keepers and Caterers Coast Executive Sam Ikwaye said that the government has played its part and now the challenge lies with tourism stakeholders.

"The national government has allocated 4.5 billion shillings to the Tourism Ministry and its now a challenge to other stakeholders in the industry to ensure that the resources are effectively utilised," said Ikwaye.
