Higher Education Principal Secretary Professor Colleta Suda has challenged education stakeholders to invest in improving infrastructure in schools to ensure every Kenyan child gets an education.

Professor Suda said the government is committed to achieving 100% transition rate from primary to secondary school and no poor child should drop out of school.

Speaking at Kanga High School in Migori County, the PS also urged students to put more effort in academics now that the government has provided free textbooks in core subjects.

The Regional Education Coordinator Richard Chepkawai who also spoke said distribution and production of books will give disadvantaged students an equal opportunity as their counterparts in more privileged schools.

The books were distributed by Moran publishers, Kenya Literature Bureau and Oxford University Press to Kanga High School in Rongo, Kadika Girls High School in Suna East, Moi Nyabohanse Girls and Isebania Boys high school in Kuria West.

The books are expected to be distributed to all the 248 public secondary schools in Migori County.
