Education CS Dr. Fred Matiang'i has been urged to postpone the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education exams (KCPE) until the current political tension ends.
According to Kisii South Sub County Parents Association chairperson, Issac Ragira, most of the pupils in primary schools won't be safe to carry on with the exams above all the parents are in fear as they may be attacked during the examination period.Speaking on Sunday while attending a talent festival organized by a group of youths drawn from Kisii County at Suneka Town Hall, the official said he has in the past few weeks interacted with a number of parents and candidates and they're not comfortable with the already set dates."Politics is still at its peak in the country and I know that won't allow our students to comfortably sit for their final exams and I am sure even parents haven't been assured of their children's security, therefore I would urge Matiang'i to postpone the dates," said Ragira
The official suggested the examination to be held a week from the set dates.
