Stalled projects in Menengai Ward, Nakuru East constituency will be brought to completion in the next financial year.

Addressing residents when he visited the ward on Wednesday, Nakuru County CEC for Trade and Tourism Dr. Peter Ketyenya said the county government was committed to bring to completion all the stalled projects for the benefit of the community. "The county government under the leadership of Governor Lee Kinyanjui is committed to see to it that all the projects started previously with the aim of benefitting the community will be completed soon," said Dr. Ketyenya. One of the projects earmarked for completion is the Kiratina market which was started but stalled halfway.

As he toured the market in the company of the area Member of County Assembly (MCA) Hon. Wilson Mwangi, the CEC said that final touches would be put in the market including lighting and ablution services. The CEC for trade promised that an allocation for the project will be set aside in the next financial year.

He also added that the market will also serve as a wholesale market easing pressure on the main wholesale market in Nakuru Town. Another stalled project in the ward that has been earmarked for completion is the Menengai Social Hall.

Ketyenya said his office will be carrying out an audit to establish why the project had delayed even as the county undertakes to have it completed.

The hall once complete will serve the youth in the area in offering a place where they can positively socialise and act as a platform for positive creativity. Also to benefit in the next financial year is St. John Primary School which currently has a population of over 1,700 pupils. According to the head teacher, facilities at the school were extremely stretched with some classes having a population of 70 in place of the recommended 40 pupils.

The school had 211 registered candidates last year who got a mean score of 290 marks. The school will get an additional three classrooms built to help in managing the high population of pupils.
