An opposition governor has told Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to stump his authority and take charge of the opposition coalition National Super Alliance (NASA).

Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni County) said an agreement signed between Wiper party and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) in 2012 says Kalonzo would back opposition leader Raila Odinga’s presidential bid in 2013 before the former Langata MP supports the former Vice President’s bid to ascend to State House.

The agreement was amended in 2016 and Kalonzo agreed to support Raila in 2017. Kalonzo is vying for the presidency in 2022 and expects to get Raila’s support.

“Stop playing at position two. In terms of the agreement, you are now in position one,” Kibwana said in Wote as he met groups of women on Sunday.

There is currently a supremacy battle between Kalonzo and ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi over who should take over the opposition’s leadership from Raila.

Whereas some leaders from Nyanza and Western regions says Mudavadi fits to vie for the presidency on the NASA ticket, elected leaders from Ukambani argue the MoU Raila and Kalonzo signed clearly spells its Kalonzo who will succeed Raila a NASA leader.

The NASA coalition also constitutes Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula as a co-principal although he has not declared his interest to contest for the presidency in 2022.
