Nairobi will once again have a chance to host the Standard Chartered Marathon on Sunday from morning to 1 pm.
According to the Nairobi police boss Japeth Koome, the event will necessitate the closure some routes in the city to ensure the marathoners are safe.
“We are going to have both ground and air coverage but the residents of the city will be affected because a number of roads will be closed,” he said.
The full marathon will start on the Haile Selassie Road outside the Railway Club with the athletes taking the Haile Selassie roundabout then head to Museum Hill all the way to the University Way roundabout.
The athletes will then take on the Mombasa Road loop twice to Lusaka roundabout and back to Lusaka before heading to Bunyala roundabout then run all the way to the finish line that is at the Nairobi Railway Club.
Top honors will be sought in the 42km, 21km, 10km, and a 5km family run and 3 km CEO challenge. Over 20,000 participants are expected to take on the Nairobi streets.
