In his new year message to Kenyans, Mudavadi said his new resolution was to ensure that the Jubilee government is sent packing, citing corruption and hard economic times as grounds to vote out President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto.

"I do hope Kenyans have had enough of Jubilee and will take a stand against corruption in August 2017," he said.

"I call upon Kenyans to resolve that 2017 is the year of change. We must forge a unity of purpose to reclaim our country. Kenya must return to the path of accountability, truth and justice. Nasa is not an end in itself but seeks to harness Kenyans to reclaim an honest government," he added.

Mudavadi, who was installed as the Luhya Community kingpin on Saturday in a ceremony presided over by COTU boss Francis Atwoli, also appealed to Kenyans to register as voters so that they can exercise their democratic right.
