Vihiga Senator George Khaniri has called on the Luhya community to turn up in their numbers to vote for Opposition coalition NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga during the forthcoming polls.
Speaking on Monday, the lawmaker exuded confidence that the Opposition stands a pole position of unseating President Uhuru Kenyatta should Kenyans participate actively during the August elections.
“We are many and if we come out to vote, we will cancel all votes from Central. If they vote one, let us also vote one, if they move to two, let us also move to two if they move one million votes, let’s also move to one million votes,” he noted.
He accused President Kenyatta of running the country's economy down and failing to bring down the cost of living.
“If we want to save ourselves from them [UhuRuto], we need to vote as a bloc. That will ensure that [NASA presidential candidate] Raila Odinga wins this election during round one,” he said.
The larger Western Kenya region is largely perceived as a NASA stronghold.
