The ongoing construction of the Standard Gauge railway will open doors for Nairobi residents to relocate to Naivasha.
According to The National Transport Safety Association (NTSA) Chairman Lee Kinyanjui, the coming of the trains would make it possible for people to commute from Naivasha to Nairobi and hence open up the residential estates.
Speaking during the launch of TATA offices in Naivasha, Kinyanjui pointed out that it will also make it easier for companies which will establish their bases in the industrial park transport their goods to Nairobi.
“Naivasha is meant to be an industrial hub especially in Mai Mahiu. The residents should take advantage of that,” said Kinyanjui.
He called on the leadership of the country to come up with a master plan for the area, citing that lack of proper planning might affect the industries that will be established in the area.
On the issue of the many road accidents along the road, Kinyanjui cited that the fatality rate had reduced by 11 percent.
“Whereas this is commendable we want to get zero deaths on the road. We have started our emphasis on behavioral change and we have road safety caravans all around. We also have undercover teams who are monitoring the roads to curb any people who are misusing the roads,” said Kinyanjui.
Lee also issued a stern warning to matatu Sacco’s whose members are undressing and assaulting women in public.
“We have already banned one Sacco and we intend to ban more that show disrespect to our women,” he added.
