Addressing the press at the home in Athi River town on Saturday, the company's Public Relations Manager, Alex Mwaura said the initiative was to break the digital divide.

“This is to ensure that even the less fortunate in the society get access to digital TV,” said Mwaura.

He said the programme is geared towards supporting children homes across the country through connecting them with digital TV.

"Star Times has partnered with Entertainment for Charity to support charitable organizations, Bondeni is one of the homes with over 20 others spread across the country," said Mwaura.

Mwaura said they spend Sh100,000 in each home and give unlimited subscription whereby the beneficiaries get access to over 70 premium international and local channels.

"Star Times donates TV sets and other forms of support that each individual children home may require, more so basic needs to ensure the children live standard lives," said Mwaura.

"Our entry into Kenyan market, we made it our goal to ensure every household affords and enjoys digital TV and children should not be left out of this," says Mwaura.

The Music Copyrite Society of Kenya's CEO and Entertainment with Fun for Charity's coordinator, Maurice Okoth said the group will continue supporting Bondeni home through annual basketball tournaments.

"We as artists have engaged our friends and other partners to support vulnerable children. Some of us grew in children homes,” said Okoth.
