National women soccer team Harambee Starlets is among the biggest climbers in the latest FIFA rankings released on Friday. The team which was initially ranked at position 114 globally in the previous ranking climbed seven places to settle on position 107.The rise is attributed to Starlet's good display three months ago during the Confederation of Southern Africa Football Association (Cosafa) tournament held in Zimbabwe, where they had been invited as the guest nation.Starlets emerged fourth after eventual winners Banyana Banyana of South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Zambia. However, the team had a scintillating preliminary campaign where they beat Lesotho and Swaziland before walloping Mauritius 11-0 to progress to the quartets. At the continental scene, Nigeria is still ranked top at position 37 with Ghana and Cameroon following closely at position 46 and 48 respectively.Ethiopia is the best nation in the Eastern Africa region at position 90 with Tanzania following at position 102.United States of America (USA) continues to reign supreme with Germany and England in hot pursuit at the global stage.
