Two national Under-20 women football team players have been invited for trials by a Swedish side Hammarby.

The duo, Cynthia Shilwatso and Lilly Awour, are set to leave the country in January for a three-month trials in Sweden.

Shilwatso helped her team, Vihiga Queens, win the 2017 Kenya Women's Primier League title.

The team was crowned champions after defeating Thika Queens with a 2-1 win.

"It feels good to get recognised. It came through hardwork and determination. It's a good opportunity and as an individual, I will do my best to make sure that I get the place in the team," Shilwatso told Standard Sports.

The 18-year old striker was part of the national junior team that took part in the FIFA Under-20 Women World Cup qualifiers where they were eliminated by Ghana.

"This is a big chance for women football in the country and I will utilise it," Shilwatso said about the trials.

The striker, who has featured for Vihiga Queens since she was 13 years, admits that the task is huge but she is willing to leave a mark.

Hammarby has also invited for trials Harambee Starlets forward Lilly Awour, who will accompany Shilwatso.

Awour has been featuring for Tanzania's Kigoma Sisters from last season.

She previously offered her services to Spedag, also from the same country.
