Football stakeholders have called for the immediate sacking of  former Mathare United and Kariobangi Sharks tactician, Stanley Okumbi.

This follows a series of resounding losses suffered by Harambee Stars in Asia.

Okumbi’s expertise came into question after the national team  lost 1-0 to Thailand and 2-1 to Iraq in their international friendly matches.

Football Kenya Federation (FKF), through its president Nick Mwendwa, stated that they will not succumb to the pressure of sacking Okumbi.

This announcement came hot on the heels of calls from SportPesa CEO, Ronald Karauri, urging the country’s governing body to replace the youthful coach citing lack of expertise to handle the national team.

Alongside the loss to Iraq and Thailand, Stars drew with Mozambique and lost to Sierra Leone.

After failing to win the rights to host the CHAN games, Kenya  chanced upon a soft landing by getting the opportunity to host the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup Tournament  which will consist of 12 teams and will be held in the month of November and December 2017.
