Kisumu County government sponsored Kisumu All Stars finally registered the first win in the 2018 National Super League (NSL) season.
The team beat Eldoret based GFE 105 2-1 in a match played the Kisumu Moi Stadium on Saturday, February 24, 2018.All Stars goals were scored by Gerrishom Arabe in the first and Moses Odhiambo in the second half.
Robert Ouma, Victor Manuel, Steven Ochieng, Bobby Kwaka, Moses Odhiambo, Collins Wendo, Denis Ochieng, Billy Agai, Gerishom Arabe, Alex Waiswa and Solomon Magenga started the game versus GFE.
Earlier in the week, the team’s head Coach Nickanor Aketch had vowed to ensure his charges collect maximum points against the Eldoret based side.
The team, famously reoffered to as the Blue Eagles had collected a single point from the previous two matches. The team drew 0-0 with Nakuru based St Joseph’s FC before going down 1-2 against Coast Stima.
Kisumu All Stars now has four points from a possible nine. The team’s next match is against Nairobi Stima in Naivasha on Friday.
Kisumu All Stars was formed recently to take up Palos FC’s slot in the National Super League. Palos FC folded towards the end of last year, due to financial constraints.
