Kisumu All Stars continued their good run in the National Super League (NSL) with a 1-0 win over Administration Police (AP), in a match played at the Kisumu’s Moi Stadium on Thursday afternoon.
Dennis Ochieng scored the winner in the 85th minute, after rounding off AP’s goal keeper.The team under tutelage of former Kenyan International Nickanor Aketch, has now won five games in a row, with an identical 1-0.
The Blue Eagles are now second on the NSL log with 17 points, behind Western Stima which has a superior goal difference after 8 rounds of matches. Stima plays Nakuru All Stars on Friday afternoon.
Meanwhile, Kisumu All Stars is likely to miss the next NSL match away to Modern Coast Rangers in Mombasa on Tuesday next week.
Team manager Benson Basolo said they lack funds to facilitate the Mombasa trip.“Players have not been paid salary and allowances, despite registering encouraging results in NSL,” he said.
The team is being sponsored by Kisumu County government.When contacted over the team’s funding, Kisumu County’s Chief Executive Committee Member in charge of sports Achie Alai said she will make a statement over the issue, later on.
If the Kisumu County side fails to honor the Mombasa match, Modern Coast Rangers will get walk over of two goals and three points.
