National soccer team Harambee Stars squad (players and members of the technical bench) safely arrived in Kisumu on Wednesday morning, ahead of CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup semi-final matches.

Stars will play against Burundi in the first semi-final on Thursday afternoon, before defending champions Uganda play Zanzibar in the second semi-final on Friday.

All the matches will be played at the Moi Stadium, Kisumu.

Harambee Stars side coached by Belgian Paul Put qualified for the semis after finishing top of group A with 8 points. The team scored 3 goals and conceded none in four group A matches against Rwanda, Libya, Zanzibar, and Tanzania.

Harambee Stars goal Keeper Patrick Matasi believes they will go all the way to the final.

“When a coach gives you an opportunity, it means he trusts you, and the best thing to do is to perform on the pitch. Of course, my defenders have done an impressive job guarding me and that has contributed to the clean sheets," Matasi is quoted by Goal.com

Matasi plays for Kenya Premier League (KPL) side Posta Rangers.

Harambee Stars won the CECAFA title the last time the tournament was hosted here in 2013, courtesy of a 2-0 win over Sudan in the final.
